Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Therapist (BHT) collaborates within a multidisciplinary team to improve the well-being of children and their families facing significant mental health challenges. The BHT delivers suitable, evidence-based therapeutic interventions based on thorough evaluations of clients' and families' strengths, needs, and preferences. This position is rooted in community service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates clients in recognizing their strengths, needs, and achievable goals to formulate a comprehensive service plan.
  • Identifies risks accurately and responds effectively, providing guidance to colleagues on high-risk scenarios and suitable interventions.
  • Imparts essential social skills and household management techniques.
  • Exhibits advanced understanding of behavioral health symptoms, diagnoses, interventions, and their implications.
  • Gathers and evaluates data to assess service effectiveness, client requirements, and program/staffing necessities, submitting reports to the clinical director or administration as required.
  • Upholds professional boundaries and adheres to agency and ethical standards.
  • Possesses knowledge of agency and community resources along with referral procedures.
  • Delivers appropriate, evidence-based therapeutic services informed by comprehensive assessments of clients' strengths, needs, and preferences.
  • Coordinates supportive services for clients and organizes the provision of community resources in alignment with the service plan.
  • Ensures proper authorizations for services are obtained as necessary.
  • Collaborates on the ongoing development and revision of service plans with clients to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Completes precise clinical documentation in accordance with policy to guarantee reimbursement for services rendered.
  • Engages in regular evidence-based practice activities to assist clients with fundamental needs, referrals, service coordination, and skills training as required.
  • Participates in supervision, program, and agency-wide meetings as necessary.
  • May assist with clinical consultation, review, or auditing of clinical records.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned within the scope of licensure.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in a social service discipline.
  • Licensed to practice (LCSW, LMFT, or LPC) in good standing in Louisiana or a Compact state.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Additional Requirements:

  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to communicate in additional languages is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Typing speed of 40 wpm is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Availability for on-call hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • No restrictions or adverse actions that would disqualify from Medicaid or other billing.
