Position: ARCH - Activity Leader
Schedule: 4 hours per day - 4 days per week.
Purpose: Our activity leaders are front-line staff who engage with students to provide them with fun and exciting academic and enrichment activities. Our leaders must be positive role models who are energetic, creative, and welcoming to children at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists in daily program activity planning, preparation and implementation.
- Institutes and enforces all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures per the district, child care licensing and the grand guidelines.
- Assists site coordinator by leading daily activities that may include academic enrichment, health and wellness, games, crafts, music, and recreation that may be facilitated indoors or outside.
- Assit with homework time and tutoring of students in academic subjects such as reading, writing, math, and other areas.
- Ensures participant welfare during all activities.
- Ensures safety and inclusion of all program participants.
- Work effectively with students in after school activities and assist with behavior management, discipline, interpersonal actions, and act as a role model.
- Maintains a safe and clean atmosphere and environment; ensures proper maintenance and storage of all supplies and equipment.
- Communicates with the site coordinator and parents of participants as needed in a professional and effective manner.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public, staff and students acting in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
- Attends professional development and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and or snacks as appropriate for programming.
Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Grant requirements and licensing regulations.
- Computer applications related to the work.
- Principles and practices of record management.
- Lesson plans and classroom management.
- Techniques for working with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials, community organizations, school staff and the public.
- Communicating effectively with other staff and students.
- Using initiative and independent judgment within general policy guidelines.
- Following and maintaining safety standards.
- Techniques and methods of student supervision and behavior management.
- Following verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work in an economically, culturally and racially diverse environment.
- Cooperative, dependable, positive and enthusiastic.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible when asked to assist in program activities and or to assist antoerh building/location for the day.
- Work effectively with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Michigan Driver's License; and
- CPR, First Aid and AED certification within three (3) months of date of employment.
- High School Diploma/GED; AND one (1) year of experience working with children in an education, recreation, or similar program; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Willing to complete at a minimum of 16 hours of annual training in addition to CPR/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen training.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.
- Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
