The Role

Avocado is currently looking for an Accounting Supervisor to be part of the Finance & Accounting team, reporting to the Director of Accounting.

The ideal candidate will help drive the success of the business by helping financial operations run smoothly and accurately inputting data to support informative financial reporting for management decision-making.

This is an opportunity to learn different aspects of accounting and work cross-functionally across different departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily accounting activities to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, company policies, and external financial and tax audits.
  • Ownership of full cycle general ledger financial close process and related activities to ensure complete and accurate financials following U.S. GAAP, consolidated reporting, preparing and reviewing close activities such as bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reporting and monthly financial reporting for management.
  • Help improve efforts to streamline Accounting operations and improve the quality and speed of monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
  • Help make decisions on continuous development of accounting policies and standard operating procedures and assist with system implementations or enhancements.
  • Partner with FP&A around monthly variance analysis and management reporting.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Supervisor to join our team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting preferred.
  • Experience managing direct reports preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems, Oracle, and NetSuite is a plus.
  • Must be a detail-oriented person with the ability to perform accurately and complete self-reviews of work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Attention to detail, and strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP principles and financial statements.
  • Flexible to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload to achieve on-time accurate results.
  • Proficient with Excel and Google sheets.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
