Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of directional drilling and cable systems installation. As a Telecom Drill Operator, you will be responsible for assisting the Supervisor in the profitable execution of building conduit or cable systems for a communication company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Supervisor in daily field operations and utility infrastructure management
  • Control and direct crew personnel to ensure profitable execution of projects
  • Conduct weekly safety and toolbox meetings to ensure a safe work environment
  • Read and understand blueprints and existing utilities/locates
  • Communicate with property owners and resolve any issues regarding discrepancies
  • Implement and perform steps to complete jobs in a timely manner
  • Plan the use of equipment and materials needed, ensure its operating and loaded properly before leaving yard and on its return
  • Operate construction equipment such as a dump truck and skid loader
  • Work in all weather conditions from extreme heat to winter cold
  • Lift up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and carry weights of 50 to 60 pounds
Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a similar position
  • Two (2) years Foreman experience and High School diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Previous experience in a similar position and/or specific experience and knowledge regarding the drill process and equipment with a focus on crew leadership is required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give descriptive and respectful direction
  • Basic computer skills required, experience with Google apps a plus
  • A valid driver's license required with a good driving record is required
  • Class A CDL is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders)
  • Some travel may be required
  • Experience in Telecommunications is preferred
  • Must be able to pass a DOT Physical to obtain a Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Work Environment/Physical Demands

This role requires standing for 6 to 8 hours daily, walking for 4 to 6 hours daily, and occasional climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion. Lifting weights up to 100 pounds is required, and occasionally lifting and carrying weights of 50 to 60 pounds.
