Energy Finance Consultant

RER Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Technical Advisor to contribute to the mission of The Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED). This role is focused on supporting clean energy demonstration projects in collaboration with the private sector, aiming to enhance deployment and market acceptance of clean energy technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Customize OCED initiatives to address significant challenges in securing private sector investment for clean energy solutions.
- Create comprehensive financial models to facilitate discussions on potential demand-side support strategies, such as advance market commitments, to ensure successful project launches.
- Perform in-depth financial analyses to evaluate how program structures influence project economics and private sector investment, optimizing clean energy deployment.
- Provide expert guidance in structuring to enable the development of secondary markets for essential clean energy products.
- Analyze the effects of specific program design elements on OCED's strategic portfolio and associated risks.
- Prepare strategic reports and briefing documents for senior leadership, highlighting findings on support mechanisms that enhance clean energy deployment and investment.
- Conduct market and energy assessments to gain insights into OCED's investment portfolio in clean energy projects, collaborating with various internal and external experts.
- Develop or utilize existing data and analytical tools aligned with cross-cutting DOE strategies and policies across multiple sectors in partnership with OCED and other DOE offices.
- Collaborate with other DOE offices to promote commercial deployment following DOE-funded demonstration initiatives.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a client-issued Public Trust.
- Strong financial modeling expertise, particularly in project finance.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking or private equity is preferred.
- Experience in the energy or natural resources sector is highly desirable.
- Ability to think strategically and prioritize effectively in complex problem-solving scenarios.
- Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and experience in risk versus reward assessments.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Bachelor's Degree required.
