Job Summary:The Weekend Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our residents on weekends. This includes administering medications, performing treatments, and supervising resident-care personnel.
Responsibilities:- Provide nursing care to assigned residents, including administering medications and performing treatments.
- Recognize changes in the conditions of residents on shift and take appropriate action.
- Supervise resident-care personnel on shift, ensuring that they are performing their duties correctly.
- Prepare and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Supervise the serving of diets and fluid intakes, ensuring that residents receive the correct nutrition and hydration.
- Chart medications and treatments according to procedure, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Ensure that rehabilitative nursing procedures are performed, promoting the health and well-being of our residents.
- Maintain charts on shift, ensuring that all necessary information is recorded.
- Write new resident admit's care plans, outlining their specific needs and goals.
- Write summaries of closed charts, providing a clear and concise overview of each resident's care.
- Perform Quality Assurance duties, ensuring that our facility meets the highest standards of care.
- Verify inventory of drugs covered by the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, maintaining a safe and secure environment for our residents.
- Consult with the supervisor and director of nursing as needed, ensuring that all decisions are made in the best interest of our residents.
- Participate in staff meetings, staying informed about facility policies and procedures.
- Assist in interpreting goals and objectives of the facility to nursing service personnel, ensuring that everyone is working towards the same objectives.
- Supervise nurse assistants/nurse aides in performing duties, checking their work to ensure that assignments have been completed correctly.
- Administer parenteral, intramuscular, and sub-cutaneous injections, following proper protocols and procedures.
- Ensure that individual Resident Assessment and Comprehensive Care Plan is followed, promoting the health and well-being of our residents.
- Transcribe physician's orders, ensuring that all necessary information is recorded accurately.
- Personally receive or place calls to physicians, maintaining open communication and ensuring that residents receive the best possible care.
- Order medications, following proper protocols and procedures.
- Be sensitive to residents' families and respond in an appropriate professional manner, providing excellent customer service.
- Handle all emergency situations that may occur during shift, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
Weekend shifts from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, with flexibility to work other weekend hours as necessary or as approved by supervisor.
