This position is accountable for guiding these ingredients through the qualification and approval stages, ensuring thorough evaluation concerning any risks to animal welfare or product integrity. Additionally, the role involves creating ingredient Specifications that highlight the critical attributes necessary for those Specifications.

Key Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in the food sector, specifically in research and development
  • Familiarity with the functionality and quality of food ingredients, preferably in animal proteins
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in Animal Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, or a related technical discipline
Main Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with industry suppliers and commercial buyers to pinpoint ingredients that fulfill product design requirements
  • Identifying new ingredient opportunities that provide cost efficiencies while maintaining or enhancing product quality
  • Evaluating new ingredients for potential hazards and ensuring that controls are in place to mitigate those risks
  • Utilizing knowledge of the raw material ingredient portfolio across all relevant applications and serving as a key technical resource within the organization
  • Leveraging expertise in ingredients to help formulate strategies and discover ways to improve key product attributes and achieve cost savings
  • Overseeing and managing existing ingredients in our portfolio to guarantee the production of high-quality, nutritious products
  • Ensuring alignment of new ingredient opportunities with relevant stakeholders within the R&D function
  • Supporting the alignment and management of external stakeholders
  • Influencing and/or developing technical strategies and best practices
  • Responsible for drafting ingredient Specifications
