Safety Director Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Safety Director to lead our safety efforts at Hilcorp Alaska. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety management systems, leading safety teams, and influencing safety culture across multiple operating locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement safety management systems that optimize safety performance and minimize risks.
  • Provide guidance and support to operations teams on safety management tools and processes.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop and implement corrective actions to address safety deficiencies.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain safety training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Conduct incident investigations and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage safety staff schedules, vacation approvals, and training requests.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in safety and operations in the oil and gas industry.
  • Working knowledge of applicable state and federal safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional accreditation or certification in a relevant safety or EH&S area.
  • Management experience in a similar role.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
