Description
The role of the Support Technician is crucial within the Sheriff's Office, primarily assigned to the Records, Jail, or Civil Section. This position encompasses a wide array of administrative responsibilities, including the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with the public, addressing inquiries regarding policies and procedures while directing them to appropriate community resources.
- Perform various word processing tasks, including the preparation of correspondence, reports, and forms, ensuring accuracy through proofreading.
- Utilize a data management system to efficiently enter, update, and retrieve information as required.
- Facilitate communication by providing and obtaining information via teletype for law enforcement personnel and other agencies.
- Process applications for concealed weapons and explosives permits, conducting thorough background checks.
- Operate various office equipment, including computers and recording devices, to support daily operations.
- Interpret and input complex court orders into the data storage system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Accurately enter complaints and case report information into the CAD/Records Management system.
- Maintain financial records, ensuring completeness and accuracy in the distribution of funds to various agencies.
- Develop a solid understanding of criminal and civil law, staying informed on legal changes and crime trends.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations with professionalism and composure.
Qualifications:
To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Ability to learn new techniques and adapt to evolving work requirements in a dynamic environment.
- Strong multitasking skills with the capability to prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of office equipment and software.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Sheriff's Office policies and interagency contracts.
Education and Experience:
Applicants should have an Associate's degree in office administration or a related field, along with four years of progressively responsible administrative experience. Alternatively, a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience may be considered.
Background Investigation:
Candidates may be subject to pre-employment drug testing, physical examinations, and background investigations, including criminal background checks. A conviction will not necessarily disqualify an applicant for this position.
