Job Title: Kitchen Helper/Custodian

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Kitchen Helper/Custodian at Merced County Community Action Agency.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing kitchen and custodian services in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. This includes assisting with routine kitchen tasks, cleaning equipment, laundry, and work areas, as well as performing minor repair tasks and maintaining a sanitary work environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Sweep and mop floors, dust and wash furniture and woodwork
  • Empty trash and clean receptacles, wash windows and walls, clean restrooms
  • Perform minor repair tasks, move furniture and equipment
  • Order cleaning supplies and assist in delivery
  • Assist in kitchen tasks, such as cleaning kitchen area and equipment
  • Count utensils, set out utensils, laundry, and tableware for food preparation
  • Wash dishes and cooking utensils, launder kitchen linen
  • Maintain work area in a sanitary condition
  • Assist in dispensing of meals
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year's experience in general custodial work or kitchen experience desirable
  • Knowledge of cleaning supplies, ability to read, maintain schedules, and provide for regular cleaning tasks
  • Valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of California vehicle insurance
  • Criminal background check and fingerprint clearance
  • Pre-employment physical health check and TB clearance
