Behavioral Technician Specialist

The Behavioral Technician Specialist is a certified paraprofessional in the field of behavior analysis. This role involves assisting in the implementation of behavior-analytic services under the guidance and oversight of a qualified supervisor. The primary aim of ongoing supervision is to enhance and sustain your professional and ethical skills while ensuring the delivery of exceptional services to clients.
Position Summary:
The Behavioral Technician Specialist will deliver clinical skills training and behavior modification strategies based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children with Autism and related developmental challenges in various environments including home, community, and educational settings. Responsibilities include data collection on treatment programs, supporting parent education, and assisting the Behavior Analyst with clinical evaluations as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to clients in both individual and group settings using a mix of intensive teaching methods and natural environment training.
- Adhere to established behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction strategies.
- Implement and document prescribed toilet training protocols.
- Collect, document, and analyze data on observable client behaviors.
- Support parent and caregiver training aligned with the client’s personalized treatment and behavior modification plans.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as directed by the supervising Behavior Analyst.
- Utilize safe and appropriate handling techniques when engaging with clients.
- Ensure confidentiality of client information.
- Assist Behavior Analysts in preparing necessary client materials.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment.
- Collaborate with the treatment team, including clients, parents, caregivers, and external professionals.
- Stay updated with technical knowledge by participating in required training sessions.
Physical and Basic Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods.
- Ability to sit on the floor or stand for long durations.
- Manual dexterity to perform specific functions on computers and electronic devices for data collection.
- Physical presence at assigned job locations, which may include home, school, and community settings.
- Ability to receive detailed information through verbal communication.
- Visual acuity to read and comprehend written materials through various mediums.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between different job sites.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and insurance in good standing.
