- Utilize approved behavior modification techniques and serve as a positive role model to clients.
- Conduct and participate in basic life skills activities, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
- Process admissions and discharges, orienting clients to the facility and explaining rules, policies, and procedures.
- Complete required program documentation and reports, ensuring accurate and timely information.
- Document clients' activities, behavior patterns, and changes, providing valuable insights for treatment planning.
- Ensure clients adhere to established schedules and routines, promoting stability and consistency.
- Obtain required program information, inventory client valuables, and collect urine specimens as needed.
- Conduct security and safety checks, monitoring visitors and clients for contraband and performing searches as necessary.
- Perform general office and public contact duties, including answering phones, using program radios, and greeting visitors.
- Participate in meetings and conversations with staff on client progress or lack thereof.
- Perform general cleaning responsibilities and attend training and in-services as required.
- Utilize approved de-escalation techniques when necessary and transport clients to other agencies, hospitals, or community activities.
- Ensure compliance with CARF, AHCA, DCF, DJJ, and DOC standards and security safeguards.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of related human services experience. Preference will be given to those certified as Behavioral Health Technicians. Additional education and/or experience may be required as per specific program guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of the human services field and application of basic client care skills.
- Ability to utilize behavior management techniques and serve as a role model.
- Ability to handle verbally and/or physically abusive and aggressive clients, utilizing aggression control techniques to ensure safety and well-being.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suicidal, mentally, emotionally, and/or psychologically disturbed clients.
- Ability to defuse potentially dangerous situations and remain calm in emergencies.
- Ability to understand and implement The Mandt System, including physical ability to restrain a client or assist with restraint.
- Ability to prepare and maintain written documentation.
Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment and complete SMA required training during the first six months of employment and updated as required.
Physical DemandsMobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 10 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence, and presentation. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12 hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.
