DIG Chefs-In-Training is a culinary training program that offers a unique opportunity to learn the skills and techniques necessary to become a successful chef. Our program is designed to provide a comprehensive education in the culinary arts, with a focus on hands-on training and mentorship.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Chef-In-Training. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, learning from experienced chefs and developing your skills in food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items, including vegetables, proteins, and grains
- Gain exposure to different stations within the kitchen, including garde manger, grill, roast, market line, guest concierge, and delivery/packout
- Communicate with guests about menu offerings, seasonality, and ingredients
- Support the team during peak and off-peak service, pitching in wherever and whenever necessary
- Multi-task and move in the kitchen for extended periods of time
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to Department of Health and DIG food safety standards
- Demonstrate professional maturity and uphold DIG's anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies
- A passion for real, good food and a desire to learn culinary practices and skills
- The ability to demonstrate and execute a strong work ethic
- The ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including frequently lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A team-oriented focus and a deep appreciation for the people you work with
