REPORTS TO: Director, Site Supervisor, or Assistant Site Supervisor

This role is designed to assist in the classroom environment under the supervision of the lead educator.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Educational Support Specialist plays a vital role in fostering a secure, stimulating, and inclusive atmosphere for children, families, and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to organizational policies and protocols.
  • Engages in designated professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Recognizes the importance of professional ethics and integrates the NAEYC Code of Ethics into practice.
  • Ensures a safe and developmentally suitable indoor and outdoor setting.
  • Interacts with children in a nurturing and affirmative manner.
  • Creates and implements developmentally and culturally relevant activities.
  • Utilizes conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques with both children and adults.
  • Manages food service in accordance with established nutritional standards and food safety regulations.
  • Observes universal health protocols.
  • Complies with organizational health and safety policies.
  • Executes emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Communicates effectively and fosters positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Assists in organizing parent engagement events.
  • May take part in discussions with parents.
  • Supports program organization and logistics.
  • Keeps accurate records as required.
  • Participates in the assessment and oversight of activities.
  • Performs additional related tasks as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • No prior experience or training is necessary.
  • Proof of high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Completion of 6 units in Child Development with a grade of "C" or higher.
  • Current immunizations (Measles, Pertussis, Influenza) and TB clearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass background checks (State Criminal History, FBI, and CACI).
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License or California Identification Card.
  • Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint is advantageous.
