Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant - Primary Care will provide administrative and clinical support to our healthcare team. This includes measuring and recording patient vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and performing routine screening tests.

You'll also be responsible for cataloging and communicating patient needs to our healthcare team, observing patients and reporting any changes in patient conditions, and performing non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision.

Responsibilities:
  • Measure and record patient vital signs
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
  • Catalog and communicate patient needs to our healthcare team
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and stocks, and sterilize instruments
  • Practice OSHA safety standards and perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation
  • Process patient phone messages and return calls as needed
  • Call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician
  • Use communication skills with appropriate medical terminology and follow legal and ethical professional conduct
  • Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education required
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training required
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment required
  • EMR system experience preferred
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment
