Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY:

Accountable for the upkeep and repair of all tooling apparatus and processes by managing, scheduling, and training maintenance staff while ensuring the appropriate inventory of essential tooling components is maintained. Oversee all project activities related to tooling and transitions within the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Encourage, adhere to, and uphold a safe, clean, and organized work environment and equipment
  • Maintain precise maintenance documentation and implement necessary adjustments to schedules in collaboration with management, ensuring compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all relevant governmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, DHEC, etc.)
  • Exhibit reliable attendance and punctuality while executing standard maintenance tasks to support designated production and/or facility areas (troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, installation, repair, etc.) and remain attentive to both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and/or cleaning of equipment and machinery
  • Contribute to ongoing process enhancement initiatives aimed at minimizing waste, reducing cycle times, and boosting efficiency within the production/industrial setting
  • Directly responsible for or assist others in the installation, relocation, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, calibration, and routine setup of assigned equipment, including aiding in root cause analysis of equipment failures and implementing solutions
  • Receive maintenance requests, prioritize activities based on urgency and resource availability, and allocate technicians to open work orders
  • Supervise the work of technical maintenance personnel, contractors, or subcontractors and evaluate work for thoroughness
  • Educate operators, technicians, and other employees who interact with assigned equipment
  • Guide and mentor entry-level and intermediate technicians to enhance the skill set of the organization
  • Coordinate vendor training for equipment
  • Indirectly responsible for productivity by ensuring that assigned equipment operates efficiently and at designated speeds
  • Procure spare parts through the appropriate facility channels
  • Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to confirm the adequacy of repairs
  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) and accurately complete all related documentation in a timely manner for assigned equipment
  • Identify maintenance trends, propose modifications to the PM program to address trends, and enhance equipment uptime
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
  • Accountable for overseeing multiple projects
  • Responsible for managing a team of employees
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma required OR Associate's Degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully fulfill the key responsibilities of the role
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive maintenance experience required
  • 5+ years in a leadership capacity (direct or indirect)
  • Prior managerial/supervisory experience preferred
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, and reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to engage and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret data
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Possess mechanical aptitude; ability to utilize a variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools and forklifts
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency situations, maintenance issues, and team absences when required, including being available for on-call duties

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly/Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals
