Description

This position is responsible for keeping buildings and building entrances in a clean and orderly condition for the students and staff. This position fills in for the regular custodial staff on an on-call, as needed basis. Hours will be based on institutional need.

Position Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  1. Education Required - High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid drivers' license required.
  3. Must be able to see and hear well (naturally or with correction).
  4. Ability to lift and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  5. Must be able to work off ladders or scaffolding
  6. Must be able to work skillfully with hands.
  7. Must be able to operate all custodial power equipment with 30 days of accepting position.
  8. Must be able to use the required cleaning agents in a safe and responsible manner.
Position Responsibilities:

  1. Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax and buff floors and stairways..
  2. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  3. Clean and disinfect sinks, bathroom fixtures, trim and mirrors.
  4. Empty waste baskets.
  5. Clean chalk/white boards.
  6. Replenish supplies as needed, restrooms, etc.
  7. Clean drinking fountains
  8. Change light bulbs.
  9. Shovel snow.
  10. Exterminate insects.
  11. Arrange equipment and furniture for scheduled functions.
  12. Deliver messages.
  13. Generate supply requisition for assigned areas.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can occasionally be loud. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Travel: This position does not require travel.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift or push items weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
