Job Title: Physician Assistant - Clinical Research

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at Duke University School of Medicine. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a critical role in managing our clinical-translational program in psychiatry.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and clinical skills, with a strong drive to improve both our understanding of psychiatric illness and our ability to treat it. This will be a 100% clinical-research position, though there may be room for a hybrid clinical-research / clinical position in the future.

Responsibilities:
  • Interface with Duke and community clinics for clinical-research participant recruitment and enrollment.
  • Perform enrollment screening visits, including structured psychiatric interviews, clinical histories, and physicals.
  • Deliver structured psychotherapy, including Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Perform clinical assessments, including structured outcome assessments and adverse event assessments.
  • Manage adverse events and urgent clinical issues in the clinical research studies.
  • Supervise and deliver repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and other interventions.
Learning Opportunities:
  • Clinical trial design and conduct.
  • Structured assessments and psychotherapy.
  • Management of clinical-research participants.
  • Literature searches and summary.
  • Administration of rTMS.
  • Presentation preparation and manuscript writing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Science and a Physician Assistant Certificate of Registration with the North Carolina Medical Board or certification eligible.
  • Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
