The Role:

As an Electrical Safety Engineer, you possess a deep understanding of intricate systems, which is essential for delivering research and technical assistance to senior Department of Defense (DoD) officials overseeing the electrical safety of ordnance in naval weaponry and related facilities. Your expertise will be pivotal in areas such as Lightning Protection, Facility Grounding and Bonding, Equipment Grounding and Bonding, and the management of hazards associated with Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO) and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your engineering acumen to pinpoint, devise, and execute strategies to mitigate risks associated with unintended electrical power affecting ordnance, thereby preventing inadvertent initiation or detonation.
  • Apply your knowledge of NAVSEA OP-5 and OP-4 standards to uphold electrical safety protocols in ordnance operations across various Navy facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance on Lightning, Grounding, and Bonding (LG&B) as well as ordnance electrical safety concerning naval weapon systems.
  • Establish and enforce criteria and standards for ordnance electrical safety, ensuring compliance with relevant technical documentation.

Your Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering or facilities construction inspections.
  • At least 2 years of experience in ordnance electrical safety or explosives management.
  • Familiarity with technical documents such as Ordnance Pamphlets (OPs), Military Standards (MIL STDs), and NATO Standardization Agreements (STANAGs).
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and compile technical data into coherent reports and presentations.
  • Proficient in organizing and leading technical meetings and collaborative sessions.
  • Possession of a Secret clearance and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NAVSEA OP-5 and OP-4.
  • Background in LG&B and ordnance electrical safety practices.
  • Knowledge of Naval Facility (NAVFAC) siting and building code requirements.
  • Experience as an Explosives Safety Officer (ESO).
  • Familiarity with Electromagnetics (EM) and Electronics Systems Design.

Clearance Requirements:

Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for classified information access; a Secret clearance is mandatory.
