Job Title: Experienced Asphalt Plant Operator

We are seeking an experienced asphalt plant operator to join our team at the Walbec Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our asphalt plants, ensuring the production of high-quality asphalt mix for our paving operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain asphalt plants, including monitoring equipment operation and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Load out trucks for material distribution, utilizing computerized operations.
  • Feed aggregate materials into the asphalt plant, ensuring consistent flow of materials.
  • Replace wear components on plant equipment, including cutting, welding, and fabricating.
  • Work on elevated platforms and enter confined spaces, as required.
  • Monitor aggregate gradations and moisture contents to ensure consistency of materials.
  • Monitor hot mix asphalt test results to verify finish materials are consistent, of high quality, and produced within job specifications.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Punctuality and dependability are essential.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including nights, early mornings, and weekends, as needed.
  • Capacity to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions and dirty and dusty environments.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated platforms, including heights over 50 feet.
  • Mechanical and fabricating experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to pass aptitude tests.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience and/or education in a related field is preferred.
  • Member of the appropriate trade union or willingness to become a union member is required.
