Billing Specialist I

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Billing Specialist I to join our team at Central Ozarks Medical Center. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for collecting, entering, and submitting claims, as well as answering patient inquiries and resolving any issues that may arise.
Responsibilities:- Enter patient and insurance information into our billing system to ensure accurate and timely claims submission.
- Submit claims to clearinghouses and insurance companies, both electronically and via paper UB04 and CMS-1500 forms.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding their accounts, including copays, deductibles, and write-offs.
- Review and appeal unpaid or denied claims in a timely manner.
- Follow up with insurance companies to resolve any issues with claims and resubmit as necessary.
- Prepare and submit secondary claims to insurance companies.
- Verify patient benefits and eligibility as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on changing regulations and guidelines from Medicare and Medicaid.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical/dental billing experience preferred.
- Ability to operate a computer and billing software, with a typing speed of 45 wpm or higher.
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD coding systems and medical terminology a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
