Job Summary

Trinidad Benham is seeking a highly skilled Plant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our plant(s). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring quality, production, customer service, safety, and people objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance plant operations, create organizational efficiency, and promote safety.
  • Manage plant annual budget and monthly evaluation of actual budget performance in partnership with Accounting and Operations VP.
  • Implement food safety programs and certifications as required by corporate and customer expectations in partnership with SQF Management.
  • Develop plans and expectations to meet customer goal of 100% order fulfillment.
  • Establish grower relations objectives to originate viable edible and seed bean acres required to support the business.
  • Support and lead worker safety programs by setting the example for a safe work environment.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide clear direction and focus to the plant leadership team.
  • Foster a culture of trust, value, and safety in combination with TBC's core values.
  • Partner with HR and/or other leadership on employee development, engagement, recruiting, retaining, and relationship strategies.
  • Communicate, administer, and enforce company rules, policies, and procedures consistently and equitably.
  • Train, coach, plan, assign, delegate, and direct employee work.
  • Develop and manage processes to maximize safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity.
  • Improve working conditions/processes (safety, quality, productivity, cost).
  • Manage inventory, including monthly cycle counts, elimination/reduction of shrink, reconciliation, and reporting to corporate accounting/finance.
  • Manage scheduling and forecasting of production.
  • Track and evaluate production for efficiencies and improvements to achieve optimum operations.
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.
  • Foster high level of collaboration with other departments and plants to share best practices and ensure open dialog.
  • Ensure plant complies with all OSHA, USDA, FDA, and EPA policies and provide support for all programs such as BRC & SQF, HAACP, GMP, and all other related Food Safety programs.
  • Perform regular 'walk-arounds' of plant facilities.
  • Assist in community and industry involvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of operations management experience having managed an organization using principles of budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fiscal responsibility and financial acumen.
  • Experience and ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to proactively develop and implement programs designed to enhance plant operations, create organizational efficiency, and promote safety.
  • Ability to create accountability, work collaboratively, and lead by example.
  • Knowledge and experience in complying with OSHA, GMP, USDA, Food Safety, and HAACP requirements.
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
  • Superior organizational skills with ability to look ahead and anticipate problems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must display positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle stress of deadlines and constantly changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and have technical/mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong computer/technical skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule as seasonality of business demands.
Work Conditions & Physical Environment
  • Frequently required to: use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, sit; to verbally communicate; and to hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally required to stand and/or walk, use ladders, climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch. Must occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds, without assistance.
  • Frequently exposed to moving machinery/mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles/dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Protective equipment, such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net and food safety related items, is required.
