Job Summary

A Senior Medical Coding Specialist is needed to join our team at Atrium Health. This role will perform duties of mid to intermediate complexity, applying CPT and ICD codes to ensure appropriate revenue generation and compliance with billing guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform ICD and CPT coding of provider services and verify that all requisite charge information is entered.
  • Append all modifiers and rank CPT codes when multiple codes apply.
  • Assign Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes and reconcile charges to ensure all applicable information is captured.
  • Process automated or manually enter charges into the billing system and research, answer, and process all edits associated with claim and coding submission.
  • Communicate with providers regarding coding issues of mid to intermediate complexity and adhere to department guidelines for timeliness of processing charges.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; minimum 1 year of coding experience and CPC or equivalent coding credential required.
  • Maintain coding certification (CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA) and possess working knowledge of coding, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Understand payer-specific rules regarding coding, bundling, and adding modifiers, as well as regulatory guidelines including NCDs and LCDs.
Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary range of $62,000 - $82,000 per annum, depending on experience.
