Position Title: 100 Sails - Bar Back

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive service to guests, enhancing their overall experience.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks across various departments.
  • Maintain a well-organized workspace and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Collaborate closely with bartenders to ensure an adequate supply of products and materials for guest service.
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards of the bar and its equipment.

Essential Duties:

  • Adhere to Federal and State liquor regulations as well as hotel policies when serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Recognize and address any concerns from patrons in a professional manner.
  • Greet guests warmly and establish a positive rapport.
  • Ensure the bar is set up and closed down according to hotel standards.
  • Maintain bar supplies and cleanliness throughout service periods.
  • Efficiently remove dirty dishes, silverware, and glassware from the bar for cleaning.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of bar equipment and its proper usage.
  • Familiarize oneself with hotel brands and beverage offerings.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly to guests.
  • Consistently perform tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Prince Waikiki brand, including its history and geographical context.
  • Keep work and storage areas organized and clean.
  • Monitor and maintain bar inventory levels.
  • Assist in the storage of delivered products and supplies.
  • Recommend hotel restaurants and facilities to guests.

Work Environment:

  • Work primarily in the 100 Sails Restaurant, Bar, and Kitchen.
  • Indoor setting with air conditioning, but may occasionally work outdoors for special events.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring elegant guest service.

Work Schedule:

  • Availability to work day and night shifts as determined by the restaurant manager.
  • Willingness to work over 40 hours per week when necessary.

Equipment Utilization:

  • Safely operate flatbed carts and hand truck dollies.
  • Utilize draught beer dispensers and kegs.
  • Operate coffee makers, tea brewers, cappuccino machines, and espresso machines.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Capable of handling stressful situations while interacting with guests.
  • Physically able to stand, walk, squat, bend, and reach continuously during shifts.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and push/pull similar weights.
  • Ability to train new employees in the same role.

Communication Skills:

  • Must communicate effectively in English with colleagues, management, and guests.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and writing English to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Passionate about food and beverage service with a commitment to exceeding guest expectations.
  • Service-oriented and innovative, consistently delivering high-quality service standards.
  • Previous experience as a bar porter in a full-service bar is preferred.
  • Must meet health clearance requirements.
  • Minimum age of 21 to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Must obtain necessary liquor commission certification.
  • Pass a written examination on beverage and food items.
