Job Summary:

We are seeking an accomplished Medical Director of Psychiatric Services to lead our team of psychiatric providers in South Central VT. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of our inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic.

About the Role:

  • As Medical Director of Psychiatric Services, you will oversee a team of 8 psychiatric providers in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • You will assist with the management of our inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic.
  • You will serve as an ambassador and liaison with other hospital departments.
  • You will foster relationships with our outside partners.

About the Inpatient Unit:

The inpatient unit includes an 18-bed general unit and adjacent 6-bed psychiatric ICU. The general unit has approximately 90% voluntary admissions, while the psychiatric ICU primarily receives involuntary referrals from the state Department of Mental Health.

About Our Team:

The psychiatry staff at Physician Empire has been recognized by the State of Vermont for its exemplary work in reducing seclusion and restraint incidents. We prioritize implementing national best practices to minimize coercive treatment.

About You:

  • We seek a candidate who aligns philosophically with our goal of minimizing coercive treatment through implementation of national best practice models.
  • The ideal candidate should be willing to have their clinical work spread between multiple areas of service, including inpatient psychiatry, C&L psychiatry, outpatient services at our Medication Assisted Treatment Center, and possible geriatric psychiatry in local nursing homes.

  • A competitive salary range of $250,000 - $350,000 per year, depending on experience.
