Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality dental hygiene services, including cleaning deposits and stains from teeth, detecting disease, and maintaining dental supplies inventory. You will also be required to document patient records and complete medical consults as directed by the dentist.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares patients for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating, and draping patients
  • Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments
  • Properly captures digital radiographs that are diagnostic and properly labeled
  • Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins
  • Detects disease by completing oral cancer screening, feeling and visually examining gums, and using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession
  • Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies
  • Documents dental hygiene services by recording vital signs, medical, and dental histories and charting in patient records
  • Completes med consults as directed by the dentist, faxed to patient's PCP, and follows set clinic policies
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Dental Hygiene (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience preferred
  • Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques/CPR
