Safety and Risk Management Specialist

Job Summary:

The DeKalb County Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, organizing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the County's safety and loss prevention policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and conduct employee training programs to prevent, reduce, or eliminate work-related accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct safety inspections on all vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with County and division policies and procedures.
  • Investigate vehicle and equipment incidents, on-the-job injuries, and other departmental losses.
  • Develop and conduct commercial driver's license training programs for division and County employees.
  • Process various documentation associated with department/division operations, including safety-related records, reports, and documentation.
  • Communicate with County managers, supervisors, and employees to coordinate work activities and review status of work.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Risk Management or a related field.
  • Three years in occupational safety or a related field.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Some positions may require CDL Class A or CDL Class B certification.
