This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive accounting support to the Department Director and the Accounting Manager. The incumbent will engage in a variety of fiscal responsibilities that are essential for the smooth operation of our financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Assist the Department Director and Accounting Manager with various accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
2.Review and monitor expenditures for designated programs to maintain budgetary compliance.
3.Ensure timely and precise submission of cash receipts, deposits, journal entries, and program billings, adhering to all relevant policies and standards.
4.Oversee the reconciliation of revenue and receivables during month-end closing processes.
5.Analyze financial data, generate projections, and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
6.Act as the primary contact for funders and auditors, providing necessary information as required.
7.Administer petty cash for assigned programs, if necessary.
8.Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts, recommending adjustments as needed.
9.Reconcile variances and prepare monthly journal entries to allocate costs effectively.
10.Collaborate with program staff and external partners to address any accounting-related issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to kneel, bend, and move from sitting to standing multiple times a day.
- Capability to push and pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs, up to 7 flights at a time.
- Lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Additional Requirements:
- Compliance with background checks and program-specific requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Maintain agency-specified automobile insurance.
Work Schedule:
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or special events as required.
Supervision:
- Reports directly to the Department Director or Accounting Manager.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum: High School Diploma.
- Relevant Experience: Preferred 7+ years; Minimum 5+ years in accounting.
