About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fraud Analyst to join our team at Umpqua Bank. As a Fraud Analyst, you will play a critical role in identifying and preventing fraudulent transactions, analyzing fraud trends, and recommending proactive fraud prevention techniques and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identify and investigate potential fraudulent transactions and intervene to prevent transactions from occurring.
  • Analyze fraud trends, emerging fraud schemes, and industry news to recommend proactive fraud prevention techniques and processes.
  • Partner with various business lines throughout the Bank to monitor and proactively prevent fraud, and ensure prompt investigation of identified fraud.
  • Monitor customer accounts, transactions, payment processes, and reports to proactively identify, minimize, and prevent fraudulent transactions before occurrence.
  • Conduct routine contacts with customers and other bank associates to confirm the legitimacy of high-risk payment transactions prior to occurrence.
  • Analyze current processes for opportunities for future fraud prevention, proactive monitoring, and procedural updates, as well as opportunities for process improvements, including streamlining functions, resolving processing problems, and improving service quality.
  • Review system reports for high-risk accounts and internal fraud.
  • Compile ad-hoc reporting and complete analysis requests for management, including data collection.
  • Participate in the implementation of new fraud prevention-related computer systems, tools, and processes.
  • Assist in the planning, creation, and maintenance of complex analyses requiring a broad understanding of Bank concepts, processes, and analytic techniques.
  • Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and apply to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training.
  • Follow all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and complete all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
  • Actively learn, demonstrate, and foster the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.
  • Take personal initiative and be a positive example for others to emulate.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel.
About You:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent prior experience or training in audit, store operations, backroom operations, financial and operational analysis, or accounting/bookkeeping.
  • 2-4 years of experience with a focus on store operations, compliance, analysis, and fraud prevention. Banking industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of commonly used fraud prevention concepts, practices, and procedures and common fraud schemes, including account takeover fraud.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of bank computer systems or similar systems, Microsoft Office software, and data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Willingness to be a continual learner.
  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences or has the interest in learning to train and present.
  • Working toward, or willingness to obtain, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Our Benefits:

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $53,000.00-$80,000.00 and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
