Position Overview:
The Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Relationship Manager is responsible for the active management of a loan portfolio comprising existing clients. This role involves the solicitation, examination, evaluation, and authorization or recommendation of customer applications for commercial loans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently generate sales leads and collaborate with the Business Development Officer and Branch Managers to establish new C&I business relationships and enhance product sales.
  • Oversee a loan portfolio of current clients, ensuring the quality of loans; manage all facets of loan administration, including the collection of financial data, updating risk assessments, and ensuring timely renewals of credit lines.
  • Supervise and guarantee the accuracy and efficiency of loan administration processes, including the reception of applications from potential borrowers, completeness of loan documentation, and prompt processing, funding, and closing of approved loans.
  • Conduct interviews with applicants and request necessary information for loan applications.
  • Obtain credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other relevant information for evaluating loan applicants.
  • Assess the financial status, creditworthiness, banking history, and other pertinent details of applicants to determine the viability of loan approval.
  • Compile comprehensive loan packages and facilitate negotiations regarding loan structures with applicants, covering fees, repayment options, and other credit terms.
  • Present loan applications to the appropriate approving authority or Loan Committee for final approval.
  • Engage with C&I customers, prospects, and referral sources to promote and sell banking products and services.
  • Address customer inquiries regarding small business loans and provide necessary information.
  • Supply loan data to support marketing and sales initiatives as required.
  • Encourage and cross-sell additional banking products and services that align with customer needs, such as Business Checking and Cash Management.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial lending.
  • Formal credit training is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of C&I commercial lending, with a strong understanding of underwriting and credit assessment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient understanding of loan documentation processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of the products and services offered by the bank.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain composure and efficiency under pressure to meet deadlines and requirements.
