The Role

The Planning Engineer II will apply approved technologies and architectures to specific requirements for additions to support growth and new services at Lumen.

This position reports to the Director of Infrastructure Planning and is part of the Transport and Infrastructure group.

As an Individual Contributor, you will be responsible for managing floor space, power, and cooling for regionalized network facilities/data centers.

You will also kick off space and power projects into engineering and PM groups, develop plans for the implementation of new plant construction or modifications to existing facilities, and prepare plans and specifications.

Additionally, you will assure that the most feasible, practical, and economical means to complete the work are utilized, provide cost data to support capital planning and budgeting, and monitor and control project expenditures.

Skilled in planning and/or engineering, you will resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms.

  • Master's degree in a related field and 2+ years of related experience
  • Experience in an engineering role that included a substantial business/financial focus
Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location-based pay ranges are as follows:

  • $85,300 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD
  • $89,780 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY
  • $94,270 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI
  • $98,760 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

Salary Range

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $63,980 to $98,760, based on current national data.

Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.

Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation.

Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
