Together, we strive for continuous improvement, advancing our mission to revolutionize healthcare and lead positive change.The Senior Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in strategizing, overseeing, and coordinating specific departmental functions while compiling and interpreting financial data related to designated sectors (e.g., corporate affiliates, physician services, management service agreements, partnerships, etc.).

This role involves close collaboration with Physicians, Administrative Directors, the Legal Department, and the Executive Office on various analyses, forecasts, annual capital and operational budgets, and reconciliations as necessary.

Key responsibilities encompass all financial dimensions of Hackensack Meridian Health's objectives, including operational matters that influence the preparation and reporting of monthly financial statements, budgeting, audit coordination, compliance with internal controls, and oversight of outsourced accounting functions.


Key Responsibilities:
A typical day for a Senior Financial Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

- Applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in executing core responsibilities and special projects.

- Maintaining consistent and timely communication with relevant HMH departments and external accounting firms regarding inquiries. Preparing and sharing the results of reconciliations and analyses promptly with all stakeholders.

- Leading meetings with management from relevant HMH departments and Senior Management, preparing agendas, presentations, and meeting minutes as required.

- Facilitating the monthly financial close process, preparing monthly financial statements for assigned areas, and compiling financial and statistical data for the monthly Finance Committee package.

- Analyzing monthly and year-to-date variances and fluctuations (actual-to-budget / actual-to-prior year) using statistical, financial, and operational data.

- Preparing detailed work papers and support for monthly journal entries, reconciling all balance sheet and income statement accounts, and ensuring proper elimination of intercompany transactions upon consolidation.

- Accurately calculating and recording HMH's investment in subsidiaries and reconciling all due to and due from accounts within assigned areas.

- Reviewing month-end financial and statistical reports prepared by external accountants for accuracy.

- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting for capital and operational expenditures.

- Supporting business integration strategies and coordinating with independent valuation specialists on fair market value and commercial reasonableness of transactions. Collaborating closely with the Legal Department, Executive Office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

- Providing financial analysis support services to other functional areas within HMH.

- Performing additional duties and/or projects as assigned.


Additional responsibilities specific to those working with Physician Services include: Collaborating with the Manager of Physician Pay & Planning and/or Regional Site Controllers to interpret, complete, and deliver variable compensation payments to physicians for assigned groups within the Network.


Variable compensation payments are structured on a wRVU or cash model on rolling monthly and quarterly timeframes as appropriate for individual contracts. Maintaining complex pooling arrangements between groups.


- Completing the monthly reconciliation process for standard leased practices, verifying the accuracy of expenses, payments, and accruals. Preparing letters and backup schedules for physician compensation and processing ACH requests for physicians' quarterly and recurring payments.

- Completing Joint Venture/Captive leased physician compensation arrangements and any unique grandfathered arrangements. Reconciling external lease arrangements for practice operating expenses.

- Managing Variable Compensation General Ledger accruals and roll forward, ensuring timely review and completion of monthly accruals for physicians across all models, and coordinating with accountants to ensure accruals are synchronized.

- Adhering to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

- A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or 3 years in public accounting.

- Demonstrated knowledge and application of GAAP.

- Exceptional analytical skills.

- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly advanced Excel skills.

- Ability to establish effective working relationships with Senior Management and staff at all organizational levels.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
