Job Overview


The Senior Financial Model Analyst plays a crucial role in overseeing and contributing to extensive projects that involve the support, development, and upkeep of intricate financial models utilized throughout the lifecycle of loan and deposit products.

These models may be based on established rules or crafted using advanced statistical, mathematical, econometric, machine learning, or artificial intelligence methodologies. This role also entails the creation of quantitative tools that assist in pricing, profitability, and product strategy formulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, maintain, and execute sophisticated financial models for loss forecasting, scenario analysis, stress testing, originations & collections, pricing, and portfolio optimization across retail, consumer, and commercial assets.
  • Serve as both an individual contributor and a leader within collaborative working groups.
  • Utilize Python or R for data consumption, aggregation, analysis, and model development.
  • Employ Power BI to generate portfolio analytics and facilitate communication with business lines and operational partners.
  • Leverage Microsoft Office tools for analysis, documentation, and presentation purposes.
  • Engage with business lines and operational partners to identify needs and establish requirements.
  • Collaborate with Model Owners to engage with and meet the expectations of independent reviewers, auditors, validators, and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in the research, design, and implementation of innovative financial products and portfolio strategies.
  • Assess model outputs, summarize findings, and communicate results to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Develop a data environment that supports all quantitative activities.
  • Review academic and industry research, present summaries to partners and senior leadership, and propose practical applications.
  • Ensure adherence to Northwest Bank's policies and procedures, as well as Federal and State regulations.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Software and department-specific applications to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Recommend procedural improvements and enhancements to customer service.
  • Minimize departmental non-payroll expenses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as physics, mathematics, statistics, economics, or another quantitative discipline is required.
  • Master's degree in a related field is required.
  • 5-6 years of professional experience in a financial institution or consulting organization is required.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python or R is required.
  • Familiarity with SQL, SAS, Java, C+, C++, or Julia is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a financial institution or consulting organization may be waived if the candidate possesses extensive expertise in Operational Risk, Market Risk, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Stress Testing, or Third-Party Vendor Models.
