Job Summary:
The Culinary Support Specialist plays a vital role in the preparation and delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals for patients and cafeteria patrons. Responsibilities include assembling meal trays, stocking supplies, assisting patients with menu selections, delivering trays to patient rooms, and maintaining cleanliness of kitchenware. Adherence to all food safety regulations is essential. The role primarily involves working in the kitchen, with occasional duties in other areas of the facility.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform daily sanitation and cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Ensure proper hair covering in kitchen areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance by avoiding jewelry, nail polish, and excessive makeup while on duty.
- Complete weekly and monthly cleaning assignments thoroughly.
- Wear an apron in designated work areas and change out of soiled aprons before entering public spaces.
- Practice thorough handwashing as per Infection Control Policy guidelines.
- Utilize approved cleaning solutions for sanitization according to departmental protocols.
- Monitor and record food temperatures during preparation, storage, and serving.
- Assess the quality, temperature, and presentation of food, reporting any issues to a supervisor.
- Label and date all prepared food stored in refrigeration.
- Wash dishes, cafeteria trays, and cooking utensils using proper sanitation techniques.
- Store clean dishes and utensils appropriately once dried.
- Restock pantries according to inventory sheets, ensuring proper rotation and checking expiration dates.
- Dispose of cafeteria waste and replace trash bags as needed.
- Accurately record dish machine temperatures at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Thoroughly clean the dishroom, including any items that may become lodged in the machinery.
- Mop and sanitize the dishroom area using appropriate cleaning agents.
- Complete assigned daily cleaning tasks.
- Assist on the serving line or at the cash register when required, providing friendly service.
- Maintain cleanliness of trays and trash in the cafeteria, ensuring trays are restocked.
- Transport food carts as necessary and return dirty carts for cleaning.
- Clear and sanitize carts used for catering services.
- Help with stock organization during delivery days.
- Support team members as needed.
- Check inventory systems as required.
- Deliver food carts and trays to the dishroom after meal services.
- Assist nursing staff with tray delivery to patients.
- Prepare daily diet orders and menus for patient meals.

- Answer phone calls professionally and ensure timely delivery of trays to patients.

- Conduct accurate tray counts before each meal service.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dispose of trash promptly.
- Clean steam table pans after meal service and refill with water.
- Collaborate with the dishroom team to clear and wash dishes and utensils.
- Return trays to the dishroom in a timely manner.
- Assist with stock organization during delivery days.
- Prepare patient trays according to dietary orders.
- Restock milk, butter, and condiments on the tray line.
- Prepare beverages and ice for patient trays.
- Work with the dishroom team to ensure all dishes are cleared and stored properly.

- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior work experience required.
