Facility Environmental Compliance Specialist

About the Role

The Facility Environmental Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that our facilities operate in compliance with local, state, and federal permits. This includes reviewing technical projects, sampling materials, and performing inspections to guarantee adherence to permit requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical reviews of projects to ensure compliance with permits
  • Assist in approving new and ongoing projects to ensure material meets acceptance criteria
  • Prepare and file job folders, evaluate inbound job files, and approve jobs in the data management system
  • Direct/perform sampling of incoming and outgoing materials, including groundwater sampling, to ensure compliance with permit sampling frequency
  • Provide guidance to Operations Managers on amending incoming materials to meet end-use specifications
  • Determine treatment and outbound reuse options consistent with facility requirements and submit approval packages
  • Review facility permits to ensure compliance with permit conditions
  • Perform routine inspections, sampling, and reporting as required by permits and regulations
  • Maintain records according to permit requirements and prepare quarterly and annual reports to regulatory agencies
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding acceptable and unacceptable material, testing requirements, and permit status
  • Participate in facility audits and inspections performed by regulators and client representatives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Environmental Sciences preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in waste disposal, EH&S, environmental consulting, or environmental laboratory
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience using computerized systems
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for 100% of an 8-hour day
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment and conduct field sampling
  • Ability to read reports and job-related documents
