Job Summary

Community Action Project of Tulsa County, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Inclusion Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing early intervention education services to children and families in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and other related federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Integrated Content Plans: Collaborate with classroom staff to develop and implement integrated content plans that meet the unique needs of children with disabilities.
  • Coordinate Multi-Disciplinary Evaluations: Work with the multi-disciplinary evaluation team and public school system to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for children with diagnosed disabilities.
  • Conduct Developmental Assessments: Complete developmental assessments on children with suspected delays to identify potential disabilities and provide recommendations for support.
  • Provide Training and Technical Assistance: Develop and implement training and technical assistance plans for Special Services staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to support children with disabilities.
  • Manage Partnerships and Collaborations: Build and maintain positive relationships with Local Education Agency (LEA) and Part C Agency service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Advocate for Families: Serve as a primary liaison for disability services, advocating on behalf of families to ensure they receive the necessary support and resources.
  • Ensure Compliance and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field from an accredited university/college.
  • Experience: Three years of prerequisite-related work experience, including experience working with children with special needs and disabilities.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of Resources and Referrals: Expertise in resources and referrals, Head Start Performance Standards, IDEA, ADA, LEA, IFSPs, IEPs, and multi-disciplinary team participation.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, clients, and contractors.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
