Overview


The Senior Research Scientist will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Psychologist I, and other research team members to conduct comprehensive research evaluations, compile summaries of findings for families, code research data, and develop, implement, and monitor systems to ensure compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) standards and scientific protocols while adhering to project timelines.

The incumbent will oversee and mentor research personnel and trainees, provide training to study participants, and act as the primary liaison for study-related inquiries both internally and externally.

This role will also contribute to the preparation of progress reports for the PI, as well as grant reports and submissions.


Responsibilities


Conduct assessments of infants and children, both with and without developmental disabilities, utilizing standardized and non-standardized assessment tools as part of the research protocol.

Establish and maintain partnerships with collaborating sites involved in the study or assist with participant recruitment.


Design, implement, and continuously evaluate systems and research protocols for assigned projects to ensure compliance with IRB/scientific requirements, maintain confidentiality, adhere to consent processes, and ensure data integrity.

Engage in recruitment activities, including creating promotional materials and networking with potential recruitment sources.


Maintain communication with both potential and established collaborators; identify and troubleshoot any barriers to implementation while recognizing facilitators for success.


Assist in the development of coding schemas, code data, and conduct inter-rater reliability assessments.


Prepare and submit materials for IRB applications and renewals, ensuring compliance with deadlines and institutional policies.


Draft progress reports for the PI and initial drafts for funding agency reports and grant applications.


Supervise research staff and trainees assigned to specific projects. Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and administrative tasks for new research personnel.


Develop and conduct training sessions for research staff regarding specific study protocols and general laboratory procedures (e.g., scoring, consenting, data archiving, telephone screening).

Monitor staff performance and ensure project milestones are met. Investigate and resolve issues related to IRB, study protocols, and data management.


Participate in multi-site research initiatives, coordinate communication, and ensure alignment of research protocols across various sites. Keep the PI informed of all relevant discussions.


Communicate assessment results to parents and provide appropriate referrals and recommendations as necessary. Prepare written summaries of assessments promptly.


Conduct literature reviews, gather preliminary data, and contribute to the preparation of grants and manuscripts, as well as present topics related to the research and/or autism.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field is required.
  • Doctoral degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional research experience, including administering standardized assessments, is required.
  • Experience with assessment and early intervention for young children (birth – 5 years) with developmental delays/differences/disorders.
  • Recent supervisory or management experience is required.
