Position Summary

The Culinary Operations Sous Chef plays a vital role in guiding and training the catering staff, ensuring the successful execution of menus and recipes while supporting the Chef Manager of Catering and the Director of Culinary Experience.

This is a full-time, salaried role.

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with our Chef and culinary team, you will:

  • Prepare meals in alignment with dietary guidelines and standards.
  • Participate in various committees and meetings, representing the catering department.
  • Engage with vendors and attend food distribution events to assess new products and equipment.
  • Work alongside the Director of Culinary Experience to establish and maintain kitchen protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee the Point of Sale and catering software systems.
  • Possess a solid understanding of food service sanitation, food handling, and infection prevention practices.

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal Culinary Operations Sous Chef will meet the following criteria:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years of progressive culinary experience, including supervisory roles.
  • A strong passion for culinary arts and innovation.
  • Previous experience in a catering environment is preferred.
  • Proficient technology skills, including data entry into software systems.
  • Driver's License is preferred.
  • Certification from the Allegheny County Health Department is preferred.
  • Serv-Safe Director Certificate is preferred.
