The Pavement Marking Specialist is tasked with operating various pavement marking machinery, interpreting roadway striping plans and specifications, loading and unloading equipment from company vehicles, ensuring the maintenance of safety gear for each assignment, and assisting with lane closures and the setup of traffic control devices.
Travelers receive a per diem allowance, and work hours typically range from 40 to 65 hours per week, with ample opportunities for overtime.
The position necessitates flexibility in working either day or night shifts, which may vary from one assignment to another.
Key Responsibilities:
Physical exertion including driving for extended periods, standing and walking for long durations, loading and unloading equipment, traversing various ground surfaces, and frequently lifting at least 50 pounds.
Working from elevated platforms, ladders, or truck beds.
Utilizing hand and power tools, demonstrating manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smartphones, and exhibiting physical agility to use arms, legs, and hands repetitively.
Working outdoors under diverse environmental conditions, including high-speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, and exposure to construction materials.
Maintaining awareness of surroundings in work zones, including the positioning of machinery, other personnel, and ongoing construction activities.
Possessing adequate vision to observe moving vehicles, read highway construction signs, and interpret instructions, manuals, and construction plans.
Having sufficient hearing to detect approaching vehicles, follow audible commands from supervisors, and engage in conversations in person and over the phone.
Communicating effectively in English, both written and verbally, and completing daily paperwork as required by supervisors.
Working a flexible schedule that may include day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays, adapting to changing work schedules, and collaborating with other team members.
A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must pass a motor vehicle record check and a controlled substance test. Knowledge of local driving regulations is essential.
Candidates must uphold company standards for background checks, criminal records, driving records, and drug testing post-employment.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in a labor-intensive role; experience in pavement marking and signage is preferred.
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record, as driving a company vehicle is a requirement.
Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Mechanical aptitude is essential.
Ability to represent Hog Technologies professionally to clients.
A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is preferred.
Familiarity with safety regulations in phosphate mining, along with a Phosphate Card, is advantageous. The company will provide safety training and site-specific training for each assignment.
Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not entail supervisory duties.
Work Environment:
This role operates in various environments based on job locations, which may involve exposure to hot, cold, dusty, and noisy conditions.
This is a full-time position requiring the laborer to work either day or night shifts. The day shift typically runs Monday through Friday, starting at 6 AM, with travel to the work site in a company vehicle.
The night shift begins at 7 PM, with all work performed at customer locations across various regions; some out-of-state assignments may also be scheduled annually.
Pavement Marking Specialists may be required to work shifts lasting 8 to 14 hours. Some tasks may occur during facility shutdowns or overnight. Night and weekend work may be necessary to meet client demands. Per diem compensation is provided for each night away from headquarters, and hotel accommodations are covered by the company.Travel Requirements:
This position entails a travel commitment of 75-80%.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Candidates must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
