Unit Mission and Objectives: The primary aim of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department is to provide exceptional clinical services in both general and specialized areas of Obstetrics and Gynecology for women in central Virginia. In addition to our clinical objectives, we are committed to offering comprehensive medical education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, while also advancing the field through innovative research initiatives. Position Overview:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is actively seeking qualified candidates to provide specialized OB/GYN care, particularly in the area of Complex Family Planning. This subspecialty addresses critical needs in early pregnancy management, contraception, and family planning services, which are currently underrepresented in central Virginia and its neighboring areas. The role will encompass both inpatient and outpatient consultations, performing therapeutic procedures in diverse settings, and collaborating with various clinics. Additionally, the position involves educational responsibilities for students and residents, alongside contributions to the department's clinical research efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Education: Engage in the department's educational programs, focusing on the training of students and residents in obstetrics, gynecology, and family planning.
  • Research: Initiate and participate in clinical research projects, contributing to scholarly publications and presentations within the department.
  • Service: Serve on relevant departmental, health system, and university committees, as well as engage in professional activities within the field.
  • Clinical Duties: Actively participate in the clinical operations of the Complex Family Planning section, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care, surgical procedures, and on-call responsibilities as determined by leadership.
  • Administrative Involvement: Participate in departmental and institutional administrative tasks as directed by leadership.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience or commitment to fostering a diverse academic environment.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship in Complex Family Planning.
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly contributions that align with the department's focus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a recognized OB/GYN residency program.
  • Proven skills and experience in teaching, research, and patient care.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of OB/GYN in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of OB/GYN in Complex Family Planning.
