Abacus Technology Corporation is in search of a Controller to deliver comprehensive support to the CFO and VP of Financial Services concerning financial and accounting operations within the organization. This role is a full-time commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly analyses of balance sheet accounts.
  • Execute budget versus actual comparisons for the Corporate division on a monthly basis.
  • Compile various reports related to cash flow, accounts payable discounts, and capital expenditures.
  • Review and authorize accounts payable to ensure compliance with corporate policies.
  • Evaluate and approve applications for new credit arrangements.
  • File necessary returns to secure federal fuel credits quarterly.
  • Process essential journal entries monthly and finalize monthly use tax returns.
  • Oversee the annual audits for both US and International operations, including tax returns, quarterly state tax payments, and preparation of requisite forms and documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Branch Financial Analysis.
  • Conduct internal audits of various branch operations and report findings to the CFO.
  • Prepare vendor analysis reports and communicate insights to the CFO.
  • Engage with banking representatives regarding the initiation and oversight of sweep accounts and the renewal of credit lines.
  • Monitor daily cash balances and inform the CFO when credit lines are low.
  • Directly supervise payroll and accounts payable personnel, executing supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Manage the recruitment and training of employees; plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline staff; address complaints and resolve issues.
  • Oversee all international payroll and correspondence related to operations in the UK, Germany, Italy, etc.
  • Enhance processes and internal controls across all managed areas.
  • Propose policies and procedures related to financial and business practices to the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations to meet state and federal requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in an accounting or finance role with increasing responsibilities. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Proven experience in managing accounting tasks and teams. Comprehensive knowledge of all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements. Familiarity with accounting systems such as JAMIS or Deltek CostPoint is preferred. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities. The ability to be an effective problem solver and communicator is essential. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
