About the Company

Our hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Shaner Hotel Group, which is a separate company and employer from Marriott International Inc. As a franchisee, we have the autonomy to manage all aspects of our hotel, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment.

Job Description

The Financial Operations Manager will be responsible for assisting the General Manager in maintaining proper controls for all financial operations in accordance with the Shaner Finance and Auditing Departments. This includes maintaining complete knowledge of all Shaner and Franchise/departmental policies and procedures, as well as internal audit/Night Audit procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain complete knowledge of all Shaner and Franchise/departmental policies and procedures.
  2. Maintain complete understanding of internal audit/Night Audit procedures.
  3. Participate in month-end recording of food and beverage inventories.
  4. Ensure all other department inventories are completed in a timely manner according to policy.
  5. Ensure all daily, weekly, and month-end reports are completed to standards.
  6. Ensure all house charges are adjusted weekly. Maintain accounts receivable ledger.
  7. Assist in the review and adjustment of monthly Profit and Loss statements.
  8. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly forecasting of revenue, expenses, and occupancy.
  9. Monitor staff performance in all phases of job functions ensuring that all procedures are carried out to departmental standards; rectify any deficiencies with respective personnel.
  10. Communicate, update, and train all staff in the financial and audit SOP's.
  11. Analyze and interpret financial data to inform business decisions.
  12. Develop and implement financial plans and budgets.
  13. Manage and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  14. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
  15. Perform payroll duties, and assist with human resources functions, as required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A high school graduate and some college, preferably accounting based.
  2. Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as spreadsheets, financial documents, and contracts.
  4. Ability to compute mathematical calculations.
  5. Knowledgeable of the property management system.
  6. Knowledgeable of all accounting principles and procedures.
  7. Minimum one year of management experience in the hospitality industry.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from diverse candidates.
