Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Specimen Processor to join our team in Richmond, VA. As a Laboratory Specimen Processor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of biological specimens received for analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, open, and verify biological specimens in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Review and document specimen acceptability and chain of custody forms.
  • Assign laboratory accessioning numbers and aliquot specimens as needed.
  • Destroy specimens as required.
  • Clean and maintain work area daily.
  • Inspect trash bags to ensure sample and document removal.
  • Process triage requests and assist with sample handling.
  • Prepare samples for shipment.
  • Ensure confidentiality of donor information and adhere to all security procedures.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds.
  • Ability to have full body movement.
  • Ability to cope with stress due to production obligations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures, federal guidelines, and CAP-FUDT regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to provide input and recommendations on operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively.
  • Advanced understanding of certification requirements for regulatory bodies.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory information systems and computer systems.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay for this position is $13.85 – $27.75 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
