Job Summary

A Medical Laboratory Technician - Blood Collection Specialist is responsible for efficiently and accurately performing blood draws and assisting with minor laboratory tests on patients. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare patient rooms for blood draws and lab procedures, gathering necessary medical testing materials.
  • Assist in performing minor lab tests, including pregnancy tests, Mono tests, and other rapid testing when needed.
  • Use standard protocols to properly identify patient information before labeling samples.
  • Adequately update patient information in the database.
  • Address STAT and timed laboratory requests in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Participate in teaching and training new Medical Laboratory Technicians.
  • Perform other assigned duties related to the medical lab.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy or medical assisting program.
