Position Summary
The Transportation and Classroom Support Specialist is responsible for the safe transportation of children to and from educational institutions and various activities. This role requires the operator to ensure that the vehicle is consistently maintained and compliant with all relevant state regulations. Additionally, the individual will assist the Lead Teacher in executing the educational curriculum and managing classroom dynamics.
The Specialist plays a vital role in promoting the social, physical, and cognitive development of children, collaborating with staff to foster a conducive learning environment, and keeping parents updated on their child’s progress.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safely transport children to and from schools and events by adhering to all state regulations and practicing defensive driving techniques.
2. Follow company protocols for injury management and accident reporting, ensuring that any incidents involving children are communicated promptly to management.
3. Conduct visual checks to ensure all children are securely buckled before starting the vehicle and communicate safety requirements clearly.
4. Assist children in boarding and exiting the vehicle, which may involve physical support and ensuring a safe environment.
5. Operate the vehicle in accordance with any restrictions on the driver's license and inform management of any medications that may affect driving ability.
6. Maintain a clean vehicle, which includes regular sweeping and disposal of waste.
7. Report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities as mandated by law.
8. Attend all required staff training sessions and meetings organized by the school director.
9. Treat each child with respect, acknowledging their unique backgrounds and needs, including those with disabilities.
Floater Responsibilities
1. Support the Lead Teacher in implementing the curriculum by preparing age-appropriate lesson plans and communicating effectively with students.
2. Observe and assess the developmental progress of each child, providing feedback to the Lead Teacher for lesson planning.
3. Engage with children in a manner that models appropriate social behavior and encourages participation in physical activities.
4. Conduct regular observations of classroom activities to ensure they align with the interests and developmental stages of the children.
5. Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment by adhering to policies and promptly addressing any hazards.
6. Provide regular updates to parents regarding their child’s social and intellectual growth.
7. Create an engaging classroom atmosphere through the display of student work and thoughtful organization of materials.
8. Open and close the classroom daily, ensuring accurate attendance records are maintained.
9. Clean the classroom regularly, including sanitizing toys and surfaces.
Qualifications
Driver Requirements:
1. Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.
2. Must meet state driving license requirements.
3. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred: Experience in a licensed childcare setting.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Floater Requirements:
1. Must meet state educational licensing requirements.
