Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Seasonal Transportation Maintenance Worker. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of our transportation infrastructure, including snow and ice removal, equipment operation, and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate trucks and equipment for snow and ice removal, including hauling sand, mixing sand and salt, plowing and winging snow, and sanding and salting roads.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patching and crack filling bituminous and manholes, repairing and crack filling concrete, sealing patches, spot graveling, cleaning and sweeping bridge and pavement decks, picking up debris, animals, and Adopt a Highway bags.
  • Respond to 24-hour emergency situations, including snow, ice, severe storms, and flooding conditions, as well as other traffic hazards such as accidents and spills.
  • Operate loaders and other highway equipment as needed.
  • Perform all other miscellaneous maintenance activities as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class B CDL driver's license with air brake endorsement.
  • Ability to report to the Empire Transportation Facility within 30 minutes during snow emergency events.
  • Previous experience with snow plowing and operating heavy equipment is preferred.
Work Environment:

This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing strenuous physical tasks on a daily basis. The posture and movement requirements for this position include sitting, standing, walking, balancing, bending and stooping, twisting and reaching forward, and repetitive bending of the arm and use of feet. Staff must have the ability to rotate, flex, and keep their head in a static position for driving. Work tasks require frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
