Position Overview & Responsibilities
As a Wellness Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to residents while overseeing the care delivered by medication care specialists. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, performing treatments, obtaining specimens as necessary, and completing required documentation. The essential duties outlined below represent typical tasks encountered in this role:
- Document resident health status according to policy.
- Supervise assigned team members while providing nursing care to residents.
- Assist with the onboarding of new residents.
- Support residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and promote their independence.
- Respond promptly and courteously to resident calls.
- Identify medical and behavioral changes in residents and develop care plans accordingly.
- Report daily to the Community Wellness Director on community conditions and nursing supply needs.
- Administer nursing care per physician's orders and established standards.
- Coordinate nursing care with other disciplines and ensure preventative and therapeutic services.
- Assist physicians during rounds and in examinations.
- Assess resident conditions and notify relevant parties of any changes.
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and supervise nursing care continuity.
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members, demonstrating effective decision-making skills.
- Monitor complex resident health statuses and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Orient residents and staff to emergency procedures and respond to emergencies.
- Complete incident reports and follow up as required.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of resident records and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Monitor the resident environment to meet safety and quality standards.
- Exhibit excellent customer service in all interactions with residents and team members.
- Adhere to Residents' Rights policies and community procedures.
- Perform incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Complete other related duties in a timely and professional manner.
- Current nursing license in the state of employment.
- Minimum one year of nursing experience, preferably with individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to process written information effectively.
- Demonstrated integrity and compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults.
- Commitment to the physical and emotional needs of older individuals and their families.
- Annual Flu vaccine required, with exceptions for religious or medical reasons.
USD $25.00/Hr.
