Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform physical and neurological examinations on newly admitted patients
  • Take care of sick calls and provide recommendations for outside consults
  • Prescribe appropriate medication and treatment
  • Perform other related clinical duties as needed or requested by the Medical Director
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as a Family or Adult/Geriatric Acute Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Active RN license
  • Master's degree or higher from a Nurse Practitioner program
  • Prescriptive authority for Nurse Practitioner in Virginia
  • CPR, First Aid, and BLS certified
  • Leadership experience as a registered nurse or advanced practice nurse
  • Working knowledge of assessment, diagnosis, treatment/planning
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ability to document findings accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to recognize legal limits of practice
  • Experience obtaining and interpreting clinical data and drawing satisfactory conclusions
  • Able to assess emergency situations and take appropriate actions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a psychiatric healthcare facility, acute care, long-term, or correctional setting
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English
