Position Overview

The Clinical Therapist in a Fee-For-Service capacity is tasked with delivering essential therapeutic interventions in a culturally aware and sensitive manner to both children and adults within a hybrid framework. As a vital member of the therapeutic team at the Institute for Community Living, the Clinical Therapist collaborates closely with the division's medical, psychiatric, and clinical personnel to ensure that clients receive appropriate treatment interventions. This role allows for meaningful interactions with clients and colleagues, whether in-person at one of our facilities or through virtual platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers direct clinical services, including individual therapy, family counseling, and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Engages in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and consults with supervisors as required.
  • Keeps clinical documentation in accordance with all relevant city, state, and federal regulations, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the city Department of Mental Health, Mental Disabilities and Substance Use Services, the State Office of Mental Health, and the New York State Department of Health.
  • Meets managed care standards, which includes consulting with care coordinators, securing treatment authorizations, and providing necessary documentation.
  • Participates in all mandatory training and in-service programs offered by the agency.
  • Attends weekly individual supervision sessions with a clinical supervisor.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as necessary.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Exhibits clear thinking and crisis management skills.
  • Meets deadlines consistently.
  • Prioritizes tasks effectively, demonstrating logical thinking and adherence to procedures and instructions.
  • Shows understanding of and commitment to the clinic's mission, vision, values, standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, facilitating effective communication and interaction with clients, colleagues, the public, and third-party insurance representatives.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must hold an LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LCAT certification in New York State.

EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of relevant internships during the Master's program is required.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

Fluency in additional languages, such as Spanish or Russian, is advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a strong sense of cultural competency. The capacity to manage a minimum caseload of at least 25 clients is expected.
