We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical professional to join our team as a Lead Category Profit Improvement Analyst at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a key member of our Merchandise team, you will play a critical role in driving sales and profit growth across our categories.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the annual assortment review process, working closely with the Manager of Category Profit Improvement to identify critical work and create value for the organization.
- Develop and implement data-driven strategies to drive sales and profit growth, leveraging market insights, customer data, and vendor information.
- Partner with the Merchant team to create category strategies and identify assortment opportunities that drive improved sales/margin performance.
- Conduct rigorous analysis and research, including competitive benchmarking, market insights, customer insights, and vendor analysis.
- Develop and present category review documentation, highlighting category insights and strategies to grow market share.
- Run scenario assortment modeling to project volume transfer and quantify impacts to sales/margins due to assortment changes.
- Work cross-functionally to validate and approve assortment strategies and anticipated financial impacts.
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience; Finance and/or other quantitative analytical degree a strong plus.
- 3-5+ years of relevant analytical experience with strong merchandise profitability understanding.
- Understanding of retail merchandising basics, including category management and merchandising organizational structures and processes.
- Strong analytical skills, including Excel skills, and ability to translate analytical research into presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of Merchandise leadership.
